Eagle Island: Day 1

We arrived in Botswana at a small little airport in Maun and took another small plane over the Okavango Delta. As we pulled up to the camp, we were greeted by the staff with song. This is the most we roughed it. We stayed in a tent and the generators were turned off between 11pm-4am.

The game viewing here was completely different. The camp is water based, so everything was done by boat. We went out on a small motor boat the first night and saw some hippos and a small crocodile. As we were heading in to watch the sunset, an elephant was wading in the water about 10 feet from our boat. We returned to Fish Eagle Bar where we watched the sun set over the Delta. It was indescribably beautiful. They surprised us with a "romantic" dinner on our deck. They brought the meal course by course and an elephant was at the start of the path to our tent during dessert.

That night while showering, I looked up and noticed a few ugly looking spiders at the top of our tent. I kept checking on those as I got ready for bed and around 10:30 pm what I had just hoped was part of a plant was actually a very large spider that lived at the top of our tent. Needless to say, I was pretty uncomfortable given my fear of spiders. I got through both nights there though although I spent very little time in the bathroom area where I could see the spiders.
